28 Aug. 47th Annual EAIR Forum 2025 Utrecht: Workshop on digital Transformation in Southeastern European Universities
How can the transformation of universities boost competitiveness?
What lessons can Southern European countries draw from flagship institutions in Central and Northern Europe?
These questions took centre stage during an engaging 60-minute workshop at the EAIR Forum 2025 in Utrecht, which examined the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation in universities across Southeastern Europe.
Highlights of the workshop included:
- Interactive discussions on the biggest digitalization challenges in teaching and research
- Knowledge sharing with colleagues from across the region on digital strategies, good practices, governance, and future perspectives
- Networking opportunities with the DEEPEN project team and fellow practitioners
- Concrete insights for developing effective institutional digital strategies
The workshop brought together university administrators, digital transformation leaders, academic staff engaged in digitalisation initiatives, researchers focused on higher education innovation, and professionals working on institutional change management. Their contributions will feed directly into upcoming Knowledge Briefs and help strengthen the regional network for digital transformation in higher education.
The DEEPEN project is a joint initiative of the Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit, Berlin, Germany) and WPZ Research GmbH (Vienna, Austria). Drawing on the expertise of more than one hundred experienced researchers, policy advisors, and higher education specialists, DEEPEN supports universities in navigating the digital transition and enhancing their competitiveness.
